2016 Young Professional Delegate Election Results

Jennifer Csik Hutchens Elected to Board of Directors of American Health Lawyers Association as Young Professional Delegate

WASHINGTON, DC, May 26, 2016 Jennifer Csik Hutchens, a partner with the law firm Robinson Bradshaw in Charlotte, NC, has been elected to serve as the Young Professional Board Delegate to the American Health Lawyers Association. She most recently served two terms as Chair of AHLA’s Young Professionals Council (YPC). Her one-year term as Delegate will begin on June 1, 2016. A longtime member of AHLA, Ms. Hutchens was selected by her peers to represent the YPC and AHLA’s 3,000 young professional members. Her appointment was made by AHLA’s President-Elect Charlene McGinty and approved by the members of the Board.

President-Elect McGinty welcomed Ms. Hutchens to her new role, saying: “AHLA’s Board regularly deals with significant organizational issues, and the Young Professional Delegate serves as the essential link between the Board, the YPC, and the greater community of young professional members of AHLA. Jennifer’s experience as Chair of the YPC and her passion for developing opportunities to support our young professional members makes her a perfect fit for this vital role of Delegate. I look forward to working with her this year.”

The position of Young Professional Board Delegate was created by AHLA’s Board in 2014 to provide a voice and a connection for AHLA’s members who have been in practice or in the health law arena for under 10 years. During her term as the Delegate, Ms. Hutchens will attend and participate in AHLA Board meetings, relying on her understanding of the needs and interests of young professionals. She will also serve as a liaison between the Board and the YPC.

“In my new role, I am honored to represent the many thousands of members of AHLA who are young professionals,” said Ms. Hutchens. “Quite early into my law practice, I was eager for a way to connect with younger practitioners who, like me, have an interest in health care law. I was fortunate to be introduced to AHLA in my second year of practice and to get involved with AHLA’s Young Professionals activities in the early stages. During my tenure as Chair of the YPC, I have been proud of the progress made by the YPC in accomplishing its many goals. I look forward to working with AHLA leaders in the coming year to continue to highlight the value that young professionals bring to the table and how AHLA can best serve the professional needs for these members.”

Ms. Hutchens practices corporate health care law at Robinson Bradshaw, representing providers of all sizes, including hospitals and health systems, physician practices, management services organizations and other health care entities. Ms. Hutchens practices extensively in the areas of health care joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, and integration transactions. Her transactional health care experience also includes the negotiation and preparation of physician recruitment, employment, professional services and other commercial contracts. She also frequently advises clients on health care regulatory and compliance issues.

Ms. Hutchens is the incoming Vice-Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association, Health Law Section Council and a past Treasurer and Secretary. Ms. Hutchens earned a B.A. and J.D. from Duke University, and is a recipient of several honors and awards, including Woodward/White, Inc. The Best Lawyers in America, health care, 2015-16, and North Carolina Super Lawyers, North Carolina Rising Star, health care, 2013-16.
