WASHINGTON, DC, June 30, 2015 - The American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) is pleased to announce that the 2015 David J. Greenburg Service Award has been awarded to Peter M. Leibold, Chief Advocacy Officer of Ascension Health. The award was presented to Mr. Leibold on June 27, 2015 at the AHLA Annual Meeting in Washington, DC.

AHLA presents the David J. Greenburg Service Award annually to an individual who has shown great loyalty to the Association throughout his or her career and has made significant contributions to the growth and life of AHLA. Mr. Leibold served as Executive Vice President/Chief Executive Officer of AHLA from 1999-2014.

AHLA President Peter A. Pavarini of Squire Patton Boggs in Columbus, OH said of this year’s winner: “Peter Leibold exemplifies all the qualities AHLA seeks in its members.  His dedication to health law, as well as his creative ideas and good humor made him the ideal CEO for our organization for fifteen years. In his new role, we hope that Peter will continue to contribute as a member for many years to come.”

David S. Cade, current Executive Vice President/CEO of AHLA said of his predecessor: “Peter Leibold’s service to AHLA embodies the ideals established for the awarding of the David J. Greenburg Service Award. He is a servant leader with compassion for others, a skilled statesman dedicated to excellence, and a valued colleague and friend whose knowledge of law and policy served the Association well during his 15 years of service. It’s an honor to recognize Peter for his many accomplishments and years of dedicated service to the Association.”

The award is named after David J. Greenburg, who was instrumental in the formation of both the American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and the National Health Lawyers Association. AHLA’s success today is due in large part to Mr. Greenburg’s creativity, entrepreneurship, and vision.
