AHLA Weekly—eNewsletter sent each Friday; includes articles and analyses covering top stories, important case law, and federal and state legislative and regulatory developments.

AHLA’s Newsstand on State Health Law Issues—weekly eNewsletter delivering tailored newsfeed on state health law developments. This newsletter is a collaborative initiative between AHLA and Lexology, a powerful newsfeed service that gives us access to topic-specific content developed by law firms in the United States and worldwide. AHLA plans to pilot this publication for one year.

Journal of Health & Life Sciences Law—published digitally three times a year; offers in-depth, professionally reviewed articles that are practical and relevant to your practice. Members also have access to a digital archive of past issues. 

AHLA Publications—Members are entitled to significant discounts on AHLA publications, both print and electronic.

Learning

AHLA’s educational programs are the gold standard in the legal community. As the premier provider of continuing education to the profession, AHLA leads health law to excellence through many venues, from its highly regarded in-person programs held across the country to its webinars that cover breaking regulatory issues and hot topics.

• In-person Programs are held across the country to deliver information about breaking regulatory issues to those in the health law field.

• AHLA's In-House Counsel Program and Annual Meeting offers one of the best opportunities to network with colleagues and gain valuable skills.

• Webinars—Offered throughout the year, webinars are presented by knowledgeable experts on a variety of relevant and timely topics. Members are offered a discounted rate for webinar registration, and if a webinar is sponsored by an AHLA Practice Group(s), members of the sponsoring Practice Group(s) may receive further discounts. 

• Continuing Legal Education—AHLA is an approved sponsor of CLE and continuing professional education credits in most states that require them. We also apply for various other types of professional education credit when appropriate. Members can download their CLE certificates anytime via the AHLA website.

• ePrograms—AHLA ePrograms are a zip file download that contain a PDF of the program agenda along with MP3/MP4s of all of the audio and written materials from the In-Person Programs. We do not issue CLE credits for our ePrograms. If you are interested in earning CLEs from our Past-Program materials, please visit the WestLegalEd Center and search “AHLA”.

Networking

 

A primary benefit of AHLA membership is the opportunity to grow as a professional through several key resources and opportunities. 

• Practice Groups—Members can enroll in one or more of our 16 Practice Groups to connect with others who share a similar work setting or interest in specific areas of health law. 

• AHLA Mentoring Program—Sign up to become a mentor, or find a mentor to develop your professional skills, leadership, and professional competencies.

• Dispute Resolution Service—Members have access to AHLA's Dispute Resolution Service, which provides rules of procedure for resolution of disputes and provides independent health care professionals to resolve them.

• Online Community—AHLA members can connect with colleagues who have similar work settings, professional categories, or interest areas in our new AHLA Communities. Sync your Discussion List subscriptions with your AHLA login record, customize your profile, share resources, and manage your privacy settings and subscriptions. 

• Young Professionals Network—Young professionals can network, enhance professional development skills, and develop leadership abilities.

• Women's Network—Provides women members with networking and professional development opportunities to enhance their skills, increase access to colleagues and AHLA leaders, and strengthen their ties to and involvement in the Association.

• Life Members Network—A life member is any member of AHLA who has belonged to the Association for 15 years or longer and has been practicing health law for at least 25 years.

• Academic Network—AHLA offers several resources for academicians and adjunct faculty.

• Law Students Network—Individuals enrolled full-time at a law or graduate school are eligible for FREE membership in AHLA as well as significant discounts on networking and educational opportunities.

Giving

AHLA serves as a public resource on selected health care legal issues through free events, resources and publications that share the expertise of our members with other health care attorneys, health professionals and executives, public health agencies, pro bono attorneys, and consumer groups.
